Program Overview
For more than 35 years, Rolling Hills Transit has provided specialized school transportation services. We provide customized van transportation services with the ability to accommodate to individual needs for a safe, enjoyable, and personal ride experience.
With a growing fleet of more than 60 vans, we provide door-to-door service for school districts, learning centers, and alternative education programs throughout South Central Pennsylvania. Our staff work closely with customers and parents to assign our drivers according to our customer’s schedules and assure that each child is provided with an experience tailored to meet his or her needs. Whether with extended travel routes or additional safety measures, our staff are committed to each child’s safety and security.
Rolling Hills drivers are trained to work with individuals of all emotional and behavioral needs. On a yearly basis, our drivers attend Safe Crisis Management training, a best practice intervention which promotes professional, comprehensive, and safe approaches to prepare, support, and positively intervene with behavior. Our drivers also complete additional trainings including First Aid/CPR, blood -borne pathogens and fire safety. We have safety measures such as car seats, booster seats, harness and tether systems, and buckle buddies available for children of specified ages and needs. For customers who require additional safety measures in transportation, we have video cameras installed to aid in monitoring behavior.
Our fleet of non-commercial vehicles range from six to 10 passenger in size, and all of our vehicles are fully insured and well maintained. We have two wheelchair accessible vans within our fleet which are in compliance with all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Our program is registered with the Department of Transportation, which allows us to transport school students on field trips outside of Pennsylvania.
Our supervisory staff promote communication and availability. We consult with our drivers daily to assure schedules are maintained and child specific needs are addressed. We strive to be available to our customers at all times in regards to needs and concerns.
